Truro Cathedral will be awash with bells between 11am and 4pm on Saturday, September 12, as it holds an open day for families and young people to learn more about the bells and bell ringing.

Master of the Cathedral Bells, John Davis, said: “The last time we held an open day was in 2011 when the new bells were hung to give the cathedral a ring of 12. On Saturday we will have lots of hands on bell themed activities; something for all the family. We are particularly excited that the Truro Diocesan Guild of Ringers will have their brand new portable ‘Mini Ring’ in High Cross to tempt passers-by to have a go on easy to ring ropes and bells.”

Inside the cathedral there will be visits to the ringing chamber and the bells, hand bell and hand chime demonstrations, displays, exhibitions and films. For the younger ones there will be a hunt-the-bell trail as well as a bell themed craft table.
