On Saturday, October 31, volunteers will be tidying up the Truro Library Community Garden.

This garden, behind the library, is open to the public and they can sit and enjoy a coffee, read a book, or just enjoy the surroundings.

The group who look after the garden, most of them from the Truro in Bloom group, are inviting others to join them in keeping the area a colourful haven for people and wildlife.

“We really need the involvement of the residents”, said Godfrey Mortimore from the group, “it is one of our precious green spaces and a community facility that we cherish. It is not a huge time commitment. Half an hour every so often can help in keeping the area blooming”.

The project achieved an outstanding status in the It’s Your Neighbourhood category of the Britain in Bloom competition, part of Truro’s success in being awarded a gold in the national Britain in Bloom finals. One of the facets of the competition is community, along with horticultural excellence and environmental awareness. The library garden fulfils all these criteria.

If you are interested in joining the team for a bit of gardening and a hot drink come to the library from 10am on Saturday 31st October. For more details ask at the library.
