Christmas is just around the corner and Cornwall’s capital is preparing to make it a truly magical experience, beginning tonight (Wednesday) at 7pm with the City of Lights parade.

Neil Scott, BID manager for Totally Truro, said: “Christmas in Truro is a truly unique and enjoyable time of year. This vibrant city really comes alive during the festive season with a wonderful mix of events and unique Christmas shopping.”

The city will stay open late every Wednesday from November 25 for late night shopping until 9pm. The streets will be filled with festive market stalls, entertainers, brass bands and carol singers. From the essential to the unexpected, Truro’s shops, boutiques and markets will have you ticking off that list in no time.

New for 2015, the Christmas tree on High Cross in front of Truro Cathedral will be covered in snow from Wednesday, December 2, and Santa and his real reindeer will be visiting on November 25. The procession starts from Victoria Square outside Malletts Home Hardware at 6.45pm.

Lemon Quay hosts a series of festive markets during November and December starting with the Made in Cornwall Christmas Fair from November 25 to 29, followed by the Primestock Show and Fair and December 4 and 5. Soak up the sights, sounds and smells of the famous Victorian Christmas Market from December 8 to 13. Truro Farmers market will be on the Quay every Wednesday and Saturday with further dates during December.

For the first time ever in Truro, snow is guaranteed on December 23. From 5pm to 9pm, Boscawen Street will be transformed into a "winter wonderland" with falling snow, a snowball throwing area, Olaf, Anna and Elsa, Christmas carollers, a brass band, festive food stalls and late night shopping.
