TRURO’S City of Lights 2015 has been heralded an “overwhelmingly positive” success by organisers.

An estimated 30,000 people lined the route, which started at the Lander monument, looped through the city and ended on Lemon Quay.

The theme – The Museum of Lost Stories – inspired some beautiful and popular lantern designs, including mice, an explorer, a mermaid… and a much-loved Star Wars character.

Claire Eason-Bassett, event director for City of Lights, said: “This is as good as City of Lights gets – a community coming together to create a unique spectacle. The lanterns were beautiful, the storytelling was compelling, the feeling amongst the crowds was overwhelmingly positive.

“It is testament to the enormous amount of work that goes on behind the scenes, increased numbers of volunteers and carefully planning to ensure the event is safe and enjoyable for everyone.

“An enormous thank you to the volunteers, schools, community groups and organisations who have worked together to make tonight a success.”
