A new car park for All Saints Church Highertown and new access road for Truro Foodbank is proof that good things come to those that work together.

Building work for the new Penn An Dre housing development has been underway for some time at Highertown in Truro. The Taylor Wimpey development has seen the old Richard Lander School grounds used for new housing, and new community provision. All Saints Church, which borders the new development, has enjoyed a good relationship with its neighbouring developers.

A local community agreement was made between the church and the developer to provide a new 14 space car park for the busy community facility at All Saints Church. Taylor Wimpey completed the project and it is now being used by the many community groups that are hosted at the church. Among other organisations, Truro Foodbank has already seen the benefits of the new carpark and with the addition of a new foodbank access road too.

Councillor Fiona Ferguson worked alongside the church and Taylor Wimpey to further the car park agreement to include this new access road. The new road connects the car park with the foodbank, and has ensured that the critical community provision is accessible throughout the development of the new estate.

The Rev Jeremy Putnam said: “This is a great example of how good things come to those who work together. Mark Tranter, site manager for Taylor Wimpey, and Cllr Ferguson have been instrumental in ensuring that continues. The church is very grateful, and I’m sure the people of Truro are too.”
