Truro Cats Protection charity shop in Pydar Street has closed for essential repairs and refurbishment to get ready for spring

The property is owned by Cats Protection and has been raising funds for local cat welfare for over 20 years. Local shoppers and regular holidaymakers are all great supporters of this unique little shop.

Marian Bramford, the volunteer co-ordinator for the Truro branch of the charity, said: “These essential works will safeguard the structural integrity of the building for the future and improve the working environment for our volunteers who give their time helping in the shop.

"We are looking forward to re-opening our shop in late February. Our little gem of a shop raises vital funds for our diverse work helping local cats. The shop income is vital for funding our £5 neutering campaign which we intend continuing through 2016.”

The Truro and District Branch is an entirely volunteer run part of Cats Protection. It helps find permanent homes for unwanted and homeless domestic cats and kittens. Experienced volunteers help feral cats in this part of Cornwall too. It is expected that the branch will have funded the neutering of over 1,000 domestic cats in 2015 supported by shop income and local fundraising efforts.
