The Truro & District Motor Club will once again be hosting the Truro Speed Academy this year.

The club started the academy two years ago in order to mentor new people into the motor-sports of speed hill-climbing and sprinting, bringing 28 new competitors into motor-sport in that time, with the academy entrants ages spanning from 19 to 72.

The third year started with a mentoring session at Bradley Garage in Scorrier, when the club had experienced competitors, senior motor sport association and club officials to guide prospective competitors through the competition licence application, club membership and competition entry forms.

A senior MSA scrutineer was also on hand to discuss and look over new competitors' cars and give guidance on how to prepare, and what restrictions there may be to modifications that can be carried out within their first year in the sport.

This year's events include the two Tregrehan Speed Hill-climbs on June 25 and 26 and October 8 and 9; a weekend event at Camel Vale Motor Club’s Castle Speed Hill-climb on July 9 and 10, and two Newquay Auto Club Sprints on August 21 and September 25.
