The Hub community radio station has been saved after an announcement of its impending closure led to offers of support pouring in.

The station's directors have confirmed that The Hub will stay on air for the foreseeable future, with newly appointed management and outside investment, just a week after announcing that it would have to close due to management vacancies.

According to the directors, last week’s announcement prompted an influx of offers of support from a variety of groups and individuals, both locally and nationally, and it will now receive outside investment and have fresh faces joining the team.

New directors, including industry specialists, will be appointed to the board to manage the company, and the station will continue to run with its regular, dedicated volunteers, with programming and local output remaining the same.

Station manager Pete Appleyard said: “I’m so happy to be able to announce that we’ll be staying on-air for the foreseeable future. With this new investment and appointments to the board, we’re all feeling reinvigorated and looking forward to an exciting future for The Hub.

“We’re a community radio station, run completely by volunteers and although we’re making this announcement, we always need help and support – both financial and in terms of volunteers. If you’re a good communicator and have a passion for music and the local community, we’d love to hear from you.

“Keep an eye out for us over the summer across Cornwall as we’ll be out and about and are available to attend your event and provide PA services – we could even provide an outside broadcast. And of course, listen out on 106.1 and 106.4 FM. You can also now tune in to The Hub wherever you are, through the Tunein app on your mobile phone.”
