Sarah Patterson will be joining Truro Prep School as its new head in September.

She is currently the deputy head at the Junior King’s School in Canterbury, where she has been since September 2012. After graduating from the University of Birmingham in 1992, Sarah taught in a wide variety of schools including prep schools in Kenya and Chile. Over her 24 years in primary and prep school education, she has held positions as a class and subject teacher, head of English, director of studies and deputy head.

Sarah said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining Truro Prep School as head in September. I am especially looking forward to getting to know all members of the school community and leading the school into its next exciting chapter.”

Sarah will be taking up her new role following the departure of Matthew Lovett who has been the headmaster at Truro Prep for 13 years. Matthew leaves an impressive legacy as with over 240 boy and girls from 3 to 11 years old, Truro Prep stands as one of the best independent school in Cornwall.

Matthew said: “Sarah brings a wealth of experience and as I move into my role supporting schools within the wider Methodist Independent Schools Trust context. I know she will pick up the baton and move this school forward so that it can continue to be one of the leading preparatory schools in the South West.”
