Residents of the Truro and the Roseland area can learn what is happening with local planning and other matters at a community meeting at New County Hall on May 17.

People from the Truro and Roseland Community Network area will be able to hear about the Cornwall Local Plan as well as general planning issues from Cornwall Councillor Edwina Hannaford, Portfolio Holder for Planning, and Phil Mason, head of Planning and Enterprise at Cornwall Council, and will also be able to ask questions.

The panel will be also considering the latest applications for the Local Devolution Fund. This is a fund helping to support the assets and services being devolved from Cornwall Council to local councils or community groups. At the April meeting, the panel recommended support for six projects from this fund. These projects include the micro-library in Devoran, the public conveniences in St Mawes, and the picnic benches and bins for the friends of Sunny Corner.

Chris Wells, chairman of the Community Network Panel and a Truro City councillor, said: “This is a really good opportunity for residents to find out about what’s currently happening in planning, so I encourage local people to come along and ask their questions to Edwina Hannaford and Phil Mason. You’ll also be able to meet your local parish, city and Cornwall councillors and hear about what else is happening locally. The meeting is open to the public so everyone is welcome.”

The Truro and Roseland Panel meets bi-monthly to discuss matters that affect the local area and to agree priorities that can be delivered by Cornwall Council and its partners such as the police and health services.

Some of the areas that community networks focus on include anti-social behaviour, economic development, the environment, community planning, regeneration, conservation, community safety, transport and highway issues.

The Truro and Roseland Community Network Panel includes all ten Cornwall Councillors for the area, representatives of Truro City Council and the 18 parish councils in the community network: Chacewater, Cuby, Feock, Gerrans, Grampound with Creed, Kea, Kenwyn, Ladock, Philleigh, Probus, Ruan Lanihorne, St Clement, St Erme, St Just-in-Roseland, St Michael Caerhays, St Michael Penkevil, Tregony, and Veryan.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 17, from 7pm to 9pm at New County Hall in Truro. The agenda and more information about the panel can be found on the website. http://www.cornwall.gov.uk/community-and-living/communities-and-devolution/community-networks/truro-and-roseland/
