Two people arrested following the death of a four week-old baby have been released on police bail until October.

Police launched a murder investigation following the death of the baby boy from St Blazey in Par, near St Austell on Sunday, June 26.

Yesterday it was announced that a 22 year-old woman and a 20 year-old man, from St Blazey had been arrested, although they have now been bailed pending further enquiries.

The baby was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske, on Sunday, after an ambulance crew were called to a property in St Blazey.

He suffered serious injuries and died in hospital later that evening.

Police said formal identification has not yet taken place, the death is being treated as suspicious, and enquiries are continuing into the circumstances.

Police and scenes of crime officers attended the property to undertake initial investigations and a scene guard remains in place. They are awaiting the results of the post mortem and a number of associated tests.
