A £2,000 donation has been made to the Cornwall Leukaemia Trust by Tessa Salmon and Rosie the English Spotted pony.
Tessa’s husband has been treated for leukaemia at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust by Bryson Pottinger, the clinical lead consultant haematologist for the hospital. After everything Bryson and the trust had done for Tessa and her husband she wanted to give something back to say thank you.
As a result, and in conjunction with Gwennap Riding Club, Tessa and a band of helpers organised many fundraising events to help raise money. These ranged from show jumping and dressage, cake sales, a raffle with donated John Whitaker goodies and donations from Gwennap Riding Stables.
After the fundraising events had been held, Rosie the English spotted pony came to donate the money they had raised to Bryson and also help to brighten up the day for some of the younger patients on the children’s ward at the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske.
Delighted to be receiving such a donation, Bryson said: “It was an honour for me to accept this money from Tessa on behalf of the Cornwall Leukaemia Trust after treating her husband for the last few years. Donations such as this allow the Cornwall Leukaemia Trust to continue to support patients and their families through their sometimes difficult treatment. Rosie the pony was a huge hit with passers-by, patients and staff.”
