A mother of the bride from Truro, currently battling cancer, is celebrating after losing eight stone in time for her daughter's wedding.

Tracy Ann Moyse from Truro lost the weight in time for daughter Sarah's big day, having piled on the pounds during her cancer treatment.

With three major operations, three bouts of chemotherapy and courses of steroids, Tracy was eating whatever she wanted.

She said: "My daughter was planning to get married and I didn't want the guests looking at me for the wrong reasons. I was also finding it difficult to keep up with my grandson.

"One day I ran out of excuses not to do something about my weight and joined Weight Watchers."

Since joining Tracy has not only lost eight stone, she also feels much fitter and healthier.

She said: "My life has completely changed since losing the weight. I have more energy, can keep up with the grandchildren and I have a new wardrobe. People in the street don't even recognise me.

"I felt amazing on my daughter's wedding day and love to look at the photos.

"I could not have achieved this without the help of the Weight Watchers meeting, all the amazing friends I have made there and especially my leader Jan, who has supported me and is always there with advice."

Weight Watchers group leader Jan Edwards said: “I am so proud of Tracy.

“She has been such a huge inspiration to myself and the other members of the Truro Weight Watchers meeting. She is proof that you can lose weight and keep it off by making small subtle changes to your eating habits while still enjoying a little treat every day.”

Tracy added: "My kids are really proud of me and my weight loss, although sometimes they get bored of me telling them how much weight I have lost.

"I now walk everywhere and feel much fitter. I’d encourage other people in Truro who are thinking about losing weight to come along to a meeting. There’s no magic trick or short cut to gaining a healthier, slimmer shape, it’s about adopting a healthier lifestyle for good. What makes all the difference is the motivation and good advice I get from Jan and the support and encouragement we all give each other in the meeting.”
