Truro Trend, the city’s annual fashion week, is returning to the high-street this October.

The weeklong event running from October 3 to 9 is organised by Totally Truro Business Improvement District (BID) and highlights some of the best boutiques and brands in the city.

Charla Symons, Truro Trend event organiser at Totally Truro BID said: “Truro is the shopping destination of choice for many, and this annual fashion week celebrates the quality and variety of fashion and beauty businesses in this great little city.”

“It is also an opportunity for retailers and businesses to give something back to their customers, and to attract new ones through special events and promotions”

There are 30 Truro businesses taking part in this year’s event, ranging from the city’s newest boutiques to hair salons, shoe shops and perfumeries.

A variety of in-store events will be taking place from the Monday. These include mini-makeovers, ‘living mannequin’ shows, mojito and canape evening with ‘meet the designer’, complimentary Prosecco and cupcakes in stores and loads of exclusive promotions and offers exclusively for the Truro Trend week.

The highlight of the week will be the return of the fashion show in Truro Cathedral on the evening of Wednesday, October 5, from 7pm. For one night only, Truro Cathedral will be transformed into a fashionista’s dream, with a catwalk stretching the length of the nave.

More than 20 businesses have come together to put on the show and as many more will be there on the night with stands showcasing anything from the latest autumn/winter trends to beauty, with many offering freebie’s and goodies to the event attendees.

Charla added: “Many new businesses are joining the line-up this October which is increasing in popularity year on year.”

“We have had many new retailers open in the city this year. While it is good to attract national brands, this fashion-week helps to celebrate and promote the variety of independent retailers we have in the city as well. Holding their own alongside better known high street labels, this strong and diverse mix is unique - Truro is not a clone of other towns.”

As well as women's and men’s fashion by established brands, the event will also feature some students' work from Truro High School for Girls who will be modelling their own textiles creations.

BBC Radio Cornwall’s Daphne Skinnard will once again be hosting the evening and tickets are £10 available from East, Jaeger, Plum, Moss, The Vor Store, Magpie & Fox, Bishop Phillpott, Little Boutique, No22, Animal, Mistral, Vans, Rieker, Hotter Shoes and Enjoy Clothing and also available on the night, subject to availability. All who attend the event will be treated to goodies and exclusive offers from the traders to fill a Truro Trend Goody Bag.
