A nurse and an activities coordinator at Roseland Court Care Home, part of Roseland Parc retirement village near Truro, are finalists in the Great South West Care Awards, which celebrate outstanding practice across the region.

Managers at Roseland Court nominated Ele Searle and Lynn Trudgeon for the Good Nurse Award and the Care Home Activity Organiser Award respectively. The pair will join a host of other finalists at a prestigious ceremony on November 12 at the Marriot Hotel in Bath, where judges will announce the winners who will progress into the national finals of the Great British Care Awards.

Ele has worked for Roseland Court for nearly ten years. Highly respected and trusted by those in her care, she is an excellent role model to peers and junior members of staff. Nursing is a true vocation for Ele; she is extremely competent and always goes the extra mile at work.

A longstanding Roseland Court employee of 22 years, Lynn finds out individual residents’ hobbies and interests then comes up with tailored programmes of activities to foster feelings of self-worth and satisfaction. Lynn is innovative and organises all sorts of activities, from glass painting and photography to Christmas parties.
