Pupils from Truro School snuck out of their hotel for a night of drink and drugs while on a sixth form trip to Tenerife.
A group of twelve pupils from the private school broke their 10.30pm curfew to go to a bar in Puerto de Santiago, where they drank, reportedly smoked cannabis, and one pupil bought cocaine.
Head teacher Andrew Gordon-Brown has since written a letter to parents, informing them of the "unfortunate incident."
He wrote: "The incident ionvolved a number of students breaking curfew to go out to a local bar. For a small number of students matters were made considerably worse when a small amoung ot drugs were bought from a local dealer.
"The teachers who oversaw the trip are to be commended for the excwellent care that they provided the students and for investigating the midemeanours quickly and thoroughly."
He added: "I have taken firm, fair and proportionate action to punish the offending students."
