Cornwall Greens will be launching their vision for a "better, fairer Cornwall" in Truro on Saturday, January 21.

Deputy Party leader, Amelia Womack, will provide the keynote speech and the day will be crammed with talks and discussion focusing on key issues for Cornwall’s future. More than 50 people have already signed up to attend.

This event, the Cornwall Greens Conference, will be held at County Hall from 10am to 4pm when a host of speakers will cover topics ranging from renewable energy and affordable housing to transport and building stronger communities. There will also be fringe sessions on areas such the culture and heritage sector, and a social event to end the day.

Cornwall Greens will be issuing a manifesto soon, and candidates are already lined up to contest key divisions at the local elections in May. The Greens will be aiming for more members on Cornwall Council, as well as in towns, districts and parishes in every area.

Julie Bennett, Mid & East Cornwall Green Party secretary and conference coordinator, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for our members to meet together to discuss issues that affect everyone living in Cornwall, and to develop strategies for sustainable change on a local level.

"We’re fortunate to live in such a beautiful part of the country and we’re committed to ensuring that our beaches, wildlife and rural landscapes are protected from development that doesn’t benefit people living locally. We believe in a political structure that allows our members and supporters to share with us what matters most to them – something that's often lacking in present-day politics.”
