An art and design lecturer from Truro and Penwith College has contributed to an upcoming series of international art exhibitions.

Mark Dunford, lecturer at the college, has contributed a piece of his work, called Red Tree Summer, to the event organised by The London Group.

The London Group organisation is over 100-years-old, and artists must be nominated by a member and go through an election process.

Mark was elected in 2001, and has since contributed a number of works to various exhibitions including the upcoming Personal Relations exhibition, which will be travelling to The Netherlands and Italy.

Mark said: "The idea is based on the things I see regularly, and actually live with.

"It is my relationship and viewpoint of my part of the world.

"The picture wasn't actually painted for the show, and has been an ongoing piece of work for three years.

"I felt like it was time to let it go.

"Visual artists learn about their audience, diverse practice and professionalism within the industry.

"Artists are educators as well, so meeting them is always a good idea."

The London Group seeks to offer a serious and alternative perspective on contemporary visual arts in Britain. Set up in 1913, they have over 90 members and continues to survive into the 21st century.
