A man from Newquay who remains in a critical condition in hospital following an assault in the town in the early hours of Monday morning has been identified locally as teacher Ryan Polmounter.
Mr Polmounter, a 32-year-old teacher who works St Mawgan Primary School near Newquay, remains in a critical condition following the serious assault which happened at the junction of Beach Road and Gover Lane.

Detectives from Newquay CID are appealing for witnesses in relation to the serious assault, which happened on Beach Road.
Police were notified around 4.40am to an incident which happened at the junction at Beach Road and Gover Lane. Mr Polmounter was allegedly assaulted by an unknown offender or offenders, causing serious head injuries.
A police spokesperson said: "Three 19-year-old men were arrested on suspicion of GBH and released under investigation whilst enquiries continue."
