An author from Devoran has just released her first book, Manumission, which has been published by Austin Macauley.

Liz Harding, who goes by the pen name ER Harding, stepped down from her role as county welfare officer for the Royal British Legion to work on the novel.

The book is set in a future where wealth is measured in credits, and most people are surveyed and tracked with barcodes.

The story revolves around an evil corporation known as Metaform, who offer immortality at a price.

But the protagonists, Gabriel and Errik, hatch a plot to take down the company, but run into trouble on the way.

Liz has been so spurred on by the positive feedback for the book that she is already planning her second.

She said: "My ambition has always been to write about my passion, pushing the boundaries of speculative science fiction."
