Happy Days Nursery at Penair in Truro unveiled its very own child sized replica of Trafalgar roundabout this week - complete with its own Shell garage, car-wash and even working traffic lights.

The exciting new play area has been constructed to mimic the city’s biggest roundabout, allowing children to explore and understand their local community.

Nursery manager, Nicky Smith said: “As part of our early years curriculum the children get to enjoy a topic called knowledge and understanding of the world. As part of this topic our children learn and investigate the community that they live in.

"Every element of the larger Trafalgar roundabout has been taken into consideration, even down to the road signs which will encourage and help develop the children’s literacy and numeracy skills whilst they play.”

The roundabout was officially opened by the mayor of Truro, John Tamblyn, in front of an audience of parents and excited children.
