The volunteers at Cornwall Blood Bikes are celebrating after winning the popular vote and large cash prize at the Masonic Charitable Foundation awards for 2017.

After the public votes were counted and approved, the Cornish charity said it was "extremely proud" to announce that it had been awarded a grant of £25,000.

Fundraising manager, Ian Butler: "A massive heartfelt thank you to each, and every one of you that took the time to vote for us.

"Your support from the communities of Cornwall has been truly phenomenal.

"A big thank you to all our volunteers who give up their time so freely and turn out in all weather conditions, day or night, 365 days a year to provide the vital service that we guarantee to our NHS partners across Cornwall Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust.

"To those volunteers who not only ride but go the extra mile to raise awareness of our charity by carrying out talks, presentations and attending events across Cornwall, this charity could not do what we do without you.

"Most of all thank you to the Masonic Charitable Foundation for selecting us as part of their Tercentenary awards and awarding us this astounding amount and congratulations to all the other fantastic charities involved.

"This is an iconic day for CBB and all at the charity are overwhelmed, grateful and truly humbled by this fantastic news and your support."
