Held in near perfect conditions, our biggest ever field of 150 saw Cheltenham Harrier, Ben Price storm home in 33 min 28 secs, describing the course when he finished as a “hurter”.

Another visitor, Anna Stephenson took the women’s prize with a finishing time of 43 mins 52 secs, and in a clean sweep, Cornwall Athletic Club won both the men’s and women’s team events.

With running correspondent Alan Rowling away at the Commonwealth Games, full results will be circulated direct to local running clubs and to Penryn Rotary Club’s website.

Race Director Terry Chapman said: “Initial calculations show that in a fantastic morning we raised a record-breaking £2,000-plus for local mental health charity Carrick Mind, and our Rotary charities.

"Thanks go to everyone who supported us, especially our generous sponsor Steve Kimberley, and for the very practical help given by Andyloos and Cornwall Search and Rescue; plus of course for again allowing us to take over for the morning, the Enys estate.

Many runners said how much they enjoyed the race, so we are also grateful to neighbouring Rotary Clubs and the local police and sea cadets for their vital assistance in a hugely successful event.”
