David Whalley has been re-elected as the leader of Cornwall county council.
At this week's meeting of the full council Mr Whalley, the councillor for Bude, Stratton, was proposed as council leader by Ann Kerridge, councillor for Bodmin, St Mary's.
His nomination was seconded by George Edwards, the councillor for Newquay central, who told councillors that Mr Whalley had done an excellent job as the leader of the council.
Mr Whalley said: "Being the leader of Cornwall county council during the past year has certainly been an interesting experience. I am looking forward to working with staff and councillors over the coming year."
Also at the meeting Doris Ansari, the county councillor for Truro East, was unanimously re-elected as the chairman of the county council.
She was nominated by Bryan Preston, councillor for Saltash, who said that Mrs Ansari was in the unique position of being both the first woman to chair the county council and the last chairman the council would have, before the formation of the new unitary authority in April 2009.
Thanking Mrs Ansari for the way she had represented the council for the past three years, he paid tribute to her "great sense of irony and wicked sense of humour", and said she always made everyone welcome and put people at their ease.
Accepting her nomination, Mrs Ansari thanked councillors for putting their faith in her, and said it was an honour to be elected as the chairman of the council.
Collin Brewer, the councillor for Wadebridge and St Minver, was re-elected as the vice-chairman of the council.

Starry Dave, Kernow says...
9:45am Tue 20 May 08
Whilst the people of kernow continue to elect emmets and self serving gombeen men, we deserve to be improvished compared to our english neighbours and kowtow to them at every opportunity.
Cornish people who cote libdem are voting on past history not current politics. Personally, I don't care if you vote Tory, Nu Lab, MK, UKIP, independent or monster raving loony, any of these has more interst in the cornish people than the libdems.
