Two thousand women have entered the Cancer Research Race for Life 5k women-only event at Richard Lander School on Sunday, July 12.
The race is supported by the Packet.
Scott Renkin, organiser, said while the race figure had been reached there was still capacity to accept a few more. Entries close officially, tomorrow, Tuesday.
Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life is the UK’s largest women-only fundraising event series. Women of all ages and fitness levels are invited to come together to walk, jog or run 5k to raise money to beat cancer.
“We are absolutely thrilled that so many women have already accepted our invitation to Race for Life in Truro. Together, they will help us create a fantastic atmosphere on the day and raise crucial funds to help beat cancer,” said Scott.
In 2008, the women took part in Race for Life in Truro helped raise an incredible £91,000 for Cancer Research. This year, Cancer Research UK hopes the Truro Race for Life will raise even more.
“Race for Life is an amazing experience, with local women of all ages, abilities, shapes and sizes coming together to make a positive difference to the lives of people touched by cancer. They motivate and inspire each other to complete the 5k. Many simply walk round, chatting and having fun but they all share the wonderful spirit of sisterhood and pride on the day,” said Scott.
Sunday’s race will be at 11am and people are invited to attend and just cheer and at the same time help raise much needed cash for the charity.
