A £1 million programme of works to re-line culverts and clear overgrown vegetation is due to take place during February.
Areas where work will take place are Launceston, Cheriton Bishop, Tedburn St Mary and Exeter on the A30 and Liskeard and Ashbuton on the A38.
Although most of the work will take place during the daytime, some night-time work will also be necessary on occasions.
During the scheme, there will a series of lane closures, temporary 50 mph speed limits and convoy working, where traffic will follow a marked vehicle through the works.
Highways Agency Project Sponsor, Lynton Cocks, said: “Culverts do a vital job clearing rainwater from the road system so keeping them in good repair is an important task. This major investment will help ensure our roads are kept free of standing water, benefiting safety and reducing the possibilities of road closures due to floods.”
