House prices in Cornwall rise again

South West House prices rose again in January but activity in the market fell as bad weather swept the region, says RICS UK Housing Market survey published yesterday.

Roger Punch, from Stags and a RICS South West spokesperson said: “The cold snap in January clearly had a huge impact upon both supply of new properties coming forward and demand in the South West housing market, and nationally, with activity coming to a halt amidst the seasonal chaos. Activity and interest are likely to pick up in the coming months as the market experiences a spring bounce.

“House prices may rise slightly in the short term but if more property comes onto the market, the result should be all-round activity. As confidence is fragile, price rises should be modest.”

The South West saw a four percentage point rise to 42 percent, from 38 percent in the previous month.
