An aspiring photographer and videographer challenged herself to produce a short film entitled Seven Deadly Sins within the short space of 24 hours – and pride dictates that she succeeded.

FdA photography and digital imaging student from Truro College, Debra Jayne certainly did not display the sin of sloth as she single-handedly organised the actors and secured the Penventon Park Hotel for the venue.

Local Cornish models were headhunted for the seven sins including NVQ3 beauty therapy student, Georgina Markham from Truro College who played the role of Envy. Emma Ellis-Brown, studying on the same beauty therapy course then took charge of the make-up station to bring the characters to life.

Media technician Dan Cook worked closely with Debra on this project and was complimentary about her achievements: “Working with Debra was like a breath of fresh air, her incredible work ethic; vision and focus were inspiring - a real pleasure to work with.”

Although prepared to work alone, Debra was grateful for Dan’s support. “Dan is a fantastic asset to the film and photography department at Truro College, and I shall always be incredibly grateful to him," she said.

Featuring the soundtrack Drive by the American band, Sinfinis, Debra also managed to secure a sub-license agreement to use the track as well as enviously tailoring the short film around its theme.

Debra Jayne, from Sheffield intends to continue her journey at Truro College to study BA (Hons) applied media to complete her full degree qualification because of the smaller class sizes and 1-1 support on offer. “After many years of quieting my creative mind to concentrate on being a mum, I now feel that there are no limits to what I can do,” she said.

The trailer for the soon to be released short film is hosted online and can be gluttonously viewed at https://vimeo.com/212979970.

The final film and photographic stills will be premiered on May 26 as well as being exhibited at the Lander Gallery Truro, between June 5 and 10th, from 9am-6pm. Visit truro-penwith.ac.uk/events for details.
