BUDOCK
WOMEN'S INSTITUTE: Overheard at the meeting, two ladies were saying that they wished that there were more weeks in the year so that they could attend all the events that the County WI had organised for the members. They mentioned, the chairman's coffee morning, Anne Widdecombe coming to the Hall for Cornwall, a photography day, painting, singing, a day at the races, a German Christmas market and many more events for members.
Mrs Head, the new president, drew attention to the County News and reminded members about the visit to twin WI, St Buryen, in April.
The 50th Anniversary Dinner was very much enjoyed by all, and the good press coverage was much appreciated. Mary McCabe was thanked and congratulated for the lovely birthday cake.
Members were told that the ordered recyclable bags had not arrived yet, hopefully they will be here next month. Gifts were presented to the retiring officers by the new president, secretary and treasurer.
Unfortunately the speaker failed to arrive so new president, Mrs Head, rose to the occasion and quickly divided the members into two teams for a quiz. It was good fun and members delved into their knowledge for girls names, old songs and birds.
After the usual tasty supper the meeting closed at 9.45pm
