CURY
CURY METHODIST CHURCH: Mr David Pascoe told the Easter story to the congregation on Easter Day. It was nice to welcome back Miriam Jenkin and Mark Trounson on holiday from university.
The offering was taken by Christopher Trounson and the accompanist was Sybil Benney. Brenda Lawrance provided the flowers and also did the floral cross on the door as is the custom every Easter at Cury.
On Sunday the preacher will be Brian Teague.
The next coffee morning is on April 3, 9am-11am, village hall.
SNOOKER CLUB: On Thursday Cury A team beat St Keverne D 3-1 in a home match at Cury. Cury B drew 2-2 at The Lizard with their B Team and Cury C lost 3-1 to Mullion B.
The week before Cury A played a good game with the league leaders Porthleven B and came away with a 2-2 draw, which leaves Cury A still in second place in the Lizard Peninsula league table. Unfortunately Cury B and C teams lost to Mullion and Ashton.
RUAN MINOR
RUAN MINOR METHODIST CHAPEL: The Easter Sunday service was led by Rev Beverley Turner, the organ was played by Mrs Margaret Green and the offering was collected by Michaela and Yasmin Burgess.
Rev Turner asked the children why we have Easter Eggs. Apart from being tasty, they represent new life. They also symbolise the stone that was rolled away and the empty tomb!
Rev Turner said that the Easter message is that "Love changes everything". She said that the Bible reminds us to think of "Heavenly things". It is impossible to consider what Jesus did for us without being changed.
The service concluded with the sacrement of The Lord's Supper.
The preacher on sunday will be Mrs Margaret Flinders.

Those who whimped out missed out on the Carnival held on Saturday. Torrential rain failed miserably to dampen the spirits of those taking part though the small number of spectators adversely affected the size of the charity collection.
