RUAN MINOR
METHODIST CHAPEL: The Sunday service was the Chapel Anniversary Service led by Bill Reed, the organ was played by Iris Langford and the offering was collected by Michaela and Yasmin Burgess.
The young people performed a dramatised reading of the events surrounding Jesus' ascension into Heaven.
Mr Reed explained that since Jesus rose again His disciples expected great things from Him. They did not understand that He was preparing them to tell all people the good news about what Jesus had done. He promised that He would send the Holy Spirit to help them in this great work. He also promised that one day He will come back the same way as they had seen Him depart.
On Sunday afternoon there was a baptismal service for Jamie Trewin, led by the Rev Sylvia Burgoyne.
The preacher on Sunday will be Colin Combellack.
CURY
METHODIST CHURCH: We have all heard how Jesus takes us under his wing and cares for us. The story told by Mandy Jenkin to the children and adults at Cury on Sunday had an example of this - Mandy bringing along a hen and five ducklings, much to the amazement of the children, who were captivated. Mandy also accompanied the hymns on her guitar. The offering was collected by Chris Trounson and the flowers were provided by Catherine Jenkin.
The next family service will be the anniversary service on Sunday, June 1.
A chapel coffee morning takes place tomorrow, May 8, at the village hall from 9am.
VILLAGE HALL: The annual "Mr and Mrs" evening will be held on Thursday, May 22, at 7.30pm, including refreshments and a raffle. Come along and see how well the local couples know each other.
