MYLOR:
FLOWER CLUB: Members and their guests attended the buffet supper and Christmas demonstration at the Ord Statter Pavilion. The venue looked extremely festive with seasonal foliage swags decorating the walls and floral arrangements on the tables - all evidence of the committee's hard work to make it a memorable evening at the commencement of the Christmas festivities.
The buffet supper was superb and enjoyed by all. Many well presented and unusual dishes prepared by Anne Curtis from Newquay.
The club welcomed back demonstrator Judith Taylor (Holsworthy) who is well known in the flower club circles being a NAFAS judge and an area demonstrator. Her subject, Christmas, gave ample opportunity for her to make a variety of designs. All her designs were then raffled and an auction for the table arrangements then took place.
The monthly competition, Happy Christmas, was won by Margaret Underwood; 2nd, Sylvia Ollerenshaw; 3rd, Anne Redgrave; Highly Commended: Elizabeth Doidge, Jean Frith and Irene Gardner.
The club does not meet in January so Monday, February 4, will be the first meeting in 2008 when the demonstrator will be Lesley Blay (Stenalees) with her subject Winter into Spring. The monthly competition will be "In the Bleak Mid Winter".
Visitors will be given a warm welcome so please come and enjoy an evening with friends and flowers. For more information call Jean on 01326 372071.
OVER 50'S CLUB: The Mylor Over 50's club met on Wednesday, December 5, and welcomed one new member with more to come when they meet again on February 6. As this was the last meeting before Christmas, there was a special Christmas raffle, sandwiches, mince pies, cake, etc. It was a very nice party and Christmas treats were discussed, one being at Mylor school, "Christmas Festivities" by the children on December 18. Don't forget to bring your programme. On December 19, there will be a Christmas lunch at the Lemon Arms at noon for 12.30pm. In January, a luncheon will be given by Minnie May at the Lemon Arms. See you there on January 9. Happy Christmas to all.
