CHYNHALE

CHAPEL: the Mothering Sunday service was conducted by Mrs Ann Short with the help of Mrs Marjorie Pascoe.

With the help of Tallulah and Maisy, Ann portrayed the importance of working together as a family, both at home and in the church. Her theme throughout the service was Mary, the mother of Jesus. At the close of the service the ladies in the congregation received a posy of primroses from the children of the Sunday school. The vestry steward was William Dale and Crete Pooley welcomed people to the service. The flowers were provided by Tracie Haslam and the organist was John Gilbert.

On Friday evening the first evening of the social club took place and an amusing hour was spent playing Who wants to be a millionaire, arranged by Quintin Dale, followed by the usual raffle and refreshments.

A coffee morning will be held in the Guild Hall on Thursday, March 6, for chapel funds.

PORKELLIS

TRINITY METHODIST CHURCH: Mr Paul Brown of Gweek took the service on Sunday.

He entertained the children with a story about a mother hen guarding her chicks under her wing, and related that to us being looked after by our Lord. Paul sang with his wife Shirley helped by Rachel Coulston. David and Owen received the offering and Rachel also played the organ. Hilda brought the lovely roses on the communion table.

At the end of the service the ladies all received a present from the children.

On Wednesday Mr Billy Kendall will talk to the ladies fellowship on his memories of working at the post office.

TREWENNACK

METHODIST CHURCH: Mothering Sunday morning service was conducted by Shirley Wearne and was the first in a series with the theme of Journeying with Jesus.

The Lent devotions were by Audrey Johns and Wesley Bowden who placed the whip on the cross.

The story of Jesus healing the blind man at Siloam from John chapter 9 was dramatised by one of the cell groups. Another cell group led the prayers of intercession. Margaret Eva was the organist and the Sue Smith led the community singing before the service with Val Thorne at the piano.
