TRINITY
METHODIST CHURCH: The organists of Trinity led the service on Sunday, the theme being Rogation and Ascension days. Visual aids were used to explain the meaning of this time. One was a balloon filled with helium gas with a picture of Christ attached.
The congregation was invited to go outside to watch the children let it go until it disappeared into the clouds, portraying the Ascension. Back inside the church, Janet Hearn led one of the hymns vocally with Ivy Johns at the organ, Elizabeth Tremayne on guitar and Rachel Coulston on the piano. Rachel also brought the flowers.
On Wednesday, May 7 at 2pm, there will be a craft afternoon at the fellowship.
CHYNHALE
CHAPEL: The morning service was conducted by Tony Nicholas, of Porthleven, and the organist was John Gilbert.
Tony told the children the story of Androcles and the Lion, after which they left for their own classes. Tony's theme for the service was The Cross. Alfie McDonald was the vestry steward and the flowers were provided by Karen Moseley. The congregation were welcomed by Crete Pooley.
A coffee morning will be held in the Guildhall, Helston, on Thursday, May 15, for chapel funds.
