TREWENNACK
METHODIST CHURCH: Sunday morning service was conducted by the Rev Sylvia Burgoyne.
The Pentecost story from Acts 2 was dramatised by members of the congregation with loud chords from the organ to represent the wind and sparklers to represent the tongues of fire. Paul Triggs read the lesson from 1 Corinthians 2, v 4-13. Rev Sylvia then spoke about how the gift of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost was to everyone and that everyone has a different gift to use for God's glory. The Worship Group sang Christ has no hands but yours from the words by Teresa of Avila. The organist was Margaret Eva and Chris Eva led the singing before the service with Val Thorne at the piano and Connor Campbell on drums.
On Saturday May 24 there will a coffee morning at 10am to raise funds for Shelterbox to help with the disaster in Burma.
EDGCUMBE
METHODIST CHAPEL: Mrs D Williams conducted the fellowship service on Sunday. Mrs M Ferris read a lesson, Mrs C Mitchell and Mr C Mitchell read poems, Mrs I Wearne said prayers. Mrs G Collins was the organist and Mr C Mitchell took up the offering. Coffee and biscuits were served afterwards.
On Sunday, May 18, at 7.30pm, there will be a concert by Penzance Orpheus ladies choir with the chairman Mr P Phillips (ex mayor of Helston), followed by a faith supper. Proceeds for chapel funds.
On May 24, between 10am and 12 noon, there will be a table top sale with tea, coffee and biscuits. Proceeds will be for the Precious Lives appeal.
The chapel is wheelchair friendly. Everyone welcome.
CHYNHALE
CHAPEL: The Whit Sunday service was conducted by Mrs Mildred Baxter and the organist was Shirley Mildren. The young people chose the first two hymns and happy birthday was sung to Myfanwny Haslam and also to the church.
Vestry steward was Kevin and Nicola and Gillian welcomed people to the service. The lovely flowers were provided by Crystal Matthews.
There will be a coffee morning on Thursday, May 15 in the Guildhall, Helston from 9am to noon for chapel funds. Everyone welcome.

In Cornwall many people spend time on one of the sandy beaches and shingle coves along the coastline.
The South West Coast Path begins at Minehead in Somerset and runs along the part of the Somerset coast, across North Devon, round Cornwall, then South Devon and Dorset to Poole Harbour - a distance of 630 miles. It is the longest path of its type in the country.
Post office campaigners in Cornwall are furious after Royal Mail turned down an invitation to a rally to discuss its closure programme across the county.
Those who whimped out missed out on the Carnival held on Saturday. Torrential rain failed miserably to dampen the spirits of those taking part though the small number of spectators adversely affected the size of the charity collection.
