A man from Birmingham has been arrested and charged with theft and taking a motor vehicle without consent after an allegation that a large amount of cash was stolen from a safe at a St Ives hotel.
Malcolm Victor Clements, 53, originally from Birmingham, was arrested on 20 June and has been released on court bail to appear at Truro Magistrates’ Court on July 9 at 9.30am.
A reward of up to £2,500 was offered for information about the alleged theft at a St Ives hotel last month.
A large sum of money was allegedly taken from the safe, which was opened using a key, at the St Ives Harbour Hotel sometime between 6.30pm on Wednesday 28 May and 6.30am on Thursday 29 May 2014.
