Firefighters were called to Trythogga, Gulval, just after midnight this morning after a report of smoke pouring from a property and fire alrams sounding.

Nine crew on two appliances from Penzance and six firefighters from St Ives attended the call and found the ground floor of the property full of smoke.

With no obvious fire in the property, crews used two breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera to search the building.

A kitchen water cylinder heater was found to be the culprit, however the fire was already out and cews isolated the electricity supply to the heater and ventilated the  property to remove the smoke.
