CYCLISTS taking part in the Tempus Leisure Lands End 100 cyclosportive are being invited to raise money for visually impaired people in Cornwall when they take on the gruelling course.

Tempus Leisure has teamed up with the Cornwall Blind Association to help raise awareness about the charity, originally set-up to help miners who lost their sight working in the tin industry.

Chief executive for the Cornwall Blind Association, Terri Rosnau-Ward said: “We are delighted to be working with Tempus on the Lands End 100 and hope that cyclists will take this opportunity to raise money for Cornwall Blind.”

Cornwall Blind Association was one of a number of charities recently affected when Cornwall Council made cuts to frontline services.

Speaking about recent cuts Terri said: “We have to move forward now. “We are still committed to providing the same level of support to blind and visually impaired people across Cornwall.

“Fundraisers like this will help us to bridge that gap so we can continue our talking support services, that are a lifeline for those living with the isolation of sight loss.”

There is still time to sign up for the Lands End 100 by visiting www.cornwallblind.org.uk and clicking on the link.
