Police have confirmed that the body of a man recovered from the sea off St Ives on Monday, September 1 is that of a 49-year-old phytochemist.
The body of Dr Nigel Veitch from Ascot, Berkshire, was located in the water between St Ives and Pendeen by fishermen.
An Oxford University graduate Dr Veitch was a senior phytochemist at the Jodrell Laboratory at Kew Gardens.
Policing are appealing for information and would like to hear from anyone who may have seen Dr Veitch in the West Cornwall area between midday Sunday, August 31 and Monday, September 1.
