Firefighters raced to a burning flat at Regent Terrace, Penzance, on Sunday, to find there was a fear someone was trapped inside.
Ten firefighters on two appliances from Penzance attended just before 5pm to find smoke alarms sounding and smoke cpouring from the windows.
A fire service spokesman said: "The flat was in a mid-terrace property, on crews arrival to the fire the fire was made persons reported as the location of the flats occupant was unknown.
"Crews entered the first floor flat using two breathing apparatus and one hose reel and extinguished a fire located in a bedroom. Once the fire was out crews naturally ventilated the building.
Access was made to the ground floor flat to investigate smoke logging and on investigation it was confirmed that all persons had been accounted for.
Crews used small tools to ensure that the fire had totally been extinguished and had not spread.
