Two people who went overboard after their catamaran capsized in St Ives Bay were glad to see lifeboat crew on Sunday.
The St Ives inshore lifeboat with crew, Crispian Jones, David Holland and Nick Phillips, were called out on Sunday morning at 11.15am after the small vessel turned on its side due to the high wind.
Two people had to be rescued from the water by the lifeboat crew.
A spokesman for St Ives lifeboat said: “Both of them were quite cold and pleased to see the lifeboat. One was hit on his head as he went over but there was no injury.”
After successfully turning the catamaran upright, the passengers attempted to sail back into Carbis Bay but were unable to get any speed up. The lifeboat returned to tow the vessel back to shore.
It was also the inaugural launch for crew member Nick Phillips. He said: "It was very exciting to take part in the real thing. A satisfying feeling when you know the two people aboard the vessel are now safe and well.”
