A paddle boarder who was rescued after spending over five chilly hours in the sea off Marazion has returned to Penless lifeboat station to say thank you.

Joe Holtaway and his grateful parents visited Penlee RNLI lifeboat station yesterday morning (Thursday, October 27) to thank the volunteer crew for their dedication and perseverance during a multi-agency search operation in Mount’s Bay on the Tuesday evening.

Joe and his parents were shown around the all weather lifeboat Ivan Ellen, and they gave their personal thanks to each member of the crew.

Joe’s Dad said, ‘I would like thank you all for your dedication and for the follow up support you have given to Joe and to our family - you are all amazing."

As a family they are very keen to show their gratitude and heartfelt thanks. Joe and his Mum already have fundraising ideas for the coming months and have pledged to raise money, which will benefit the Penlee Lifeboat and local cliff rescue teams.

RNLI Coxswain Patch Harvey said, ‘It was really nice to meet Joe and his parents in more amiable circumstances, and to see that he has made a full recovery. To be thanked personally is always a great moral booster for the volunteer crew and makes our job so worthwhile.’
