The cream of Cornwall’s wedding industry has been honoured at an awards ceremony in Newquay.
Winners of the third annual Cornish Brides Awards were announced in front of more than 130 guests from Cornwall’s leading bridal businesses, who enjoyed a festive dinner and refreshments while enjoying live entertainment from the Strawdogs Party Band at The Hotel Victoria.
Organised and hosted by Cornish Brides Magazine, the awards are designed to recognise and reward excellence, quality and dedication from businesses and individuals in all aspects of the bridal industry.
Biggest winners of the night were Delaboe’s Flowers from Bruallen, who won the Wedding Florist of the Year award for the second consecutive year and also the highly coveted Bridal Business of the Year award.
Other celebrated winners at the ceremony, which was hosted by Cornish Brides editor-in-chief Janice Robinson, included English Rose Stationery and Budeiful Brides. English Rose Stationery were awarded the popular Bridal Excellence Award, which is judged on the consistent and complimentary comments from brides about personal service and attention to detail. Budeiful Brides won the sought-after Rising Star Award, which recognises those fledgling businesses making a name for themselves within the highly competitive Cornish wedding industry.
Over 250 businesses from across Cornwall and West Devon initially entered the Cornish Brides Awards before 60 entrants were selected as finalists across 11 varied categories such as Designer of the Year, Venue of the Year and Photographer of the Year.
During the judging process the judges took into consideration comments and feedback from brides and wedding guests, the number of votes amassed during the open voting periods, finalists’ websites and social media platforms and feedback obtained from mystery client visits and calls.
Cornish Brides editor-in-chief Janice Robinson said: “The number and stature of entrants this year was exceptional and we received in excess of 5,000 votes cast. Tonight was all about recognising those businesses and individuals whose commitment and dedication has helped not only their own businesses prosper but helped to raise standards across the Cornish bridal industry as a whole.”
