The Care Quality Commission will be visiting community hospitals and district nursing teams across Cornwall from January 20 as part of its planned yearly inspections.

The CQC monitor, inspect and regulate health services in England to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety for patients and will inspecting Peninsula Community Health’s services.

During the visits they will be asking patients about their experiences of receiving care; talking to staff; checking that the right systems and processes are in place and looking for evidence that services are meeting national standards.

Chief Executive, Steve Jenkin said: “Our staff are committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care to all of our patients. We look forward to hearing what we are doing well and areas where we might need to improve so we can ensure findings help us to continually improve the patient care we deliver.”

At the conclusion of the inspection, the inspectors will meet Peninsula Community Health’s management team to discuss their immediate findings. A full report of the inspectors’ findings will be published by the CQC.

This will include a rating for each service, which will be graded as outstanding, good, requires improvement or inadequate, giving members of the public clear information about how well Peninsula Community Health is performing to help them make informed choices about their care.

The CQC would like to hear from the public and patients.

You can leave feedback directly for the CQC inspectors in one of the comment boxes located in all of the Peninsula Community Health’s hospitals. Patients who are being looked after in the community are being given pre-paid cards to submit feedback on their care.
