A woman taken to hospital yesterday after injuring her ankle while walking in the towans near Gwithian.
The Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team from Portreath was called at about 10.30am yesterday morning to help paramedics, and after assembling at Gwithian the group located the casualty in the sand hills about a quarter of mile west of the car park.
A spokesperson for the coastguard team said: "The lady was transferred to our stretcher and having made her as comfortable as we could, we carried her back through the towans to the waiting ambulance.
"She was then transferred by road to the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske."
