The body a cat who was stolen from a hotel in Penzance last week has been found on a nearby beach.

The body of Jerry, who was taken from the Hotel Penzance last Tuesday evening, was found by a woman who was walking her dog on Long Rock beach yesterday.

The owners of the hotel posted on Facebook: "It is with great regret that we would like to inform everybody that we have found Jerry's body today.

"We would like to thank everybody again for all their help and kind comments during the past week."

Police are investigating the theft of the 12-year-old Burman, after CCTV caught a man walking into the hotel car park at around 10.30pm and enticing the cat, before leaving with something stuffed inside his jacket.

The man is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, slim build and was wearing a grey hoodie, dark blue jacket, dark jeans, a baseball cap and white trainers.
