The UK’s top surfer Jayce Robinson has joined Cornish children's charity the Wave Project as a surf ambassador.

Jayce, 25, from St Ives, started surfing at the age of 7 and went on to win the British nationals last summer and hopes to be the next European Champion.

He has decided he wants to use his skills to inspire others, and so has become a representative of the Wave Project, which tries to use surfing to improve the mental and emotional wellbeing of youngsters who are in contact with child mental health or social services.

Jayce said: “As the current UK Champion, I achieved one of my goals, which makes me happy.

“But making the people around me happy is one of the best feelings and I want to help The Wave Project do that for others.

“It can’t be done all the time, but when you have the chance to do something for others, or to do something for this beautiful world that we live on, just do it.”

Jayce will be supporting the charity's surf club in his home town of St Ives and hopes to attend the Summer Surf Challenge event on June 27-28 at Fistral Beach in Newquay.
