Devon and Cornwall Fire Service is urging people to take more care when disposing of single use barbecues after a bin fire in St Ives on Tuesday.
Firefighters from St Ives were sent Back Road West at around 9.45 to reports of a bin on fire in the street, started by a barbecue that had not been properly put out.
A fire service spokesperson said: "On crews' arrival they found one wheelie bin alight, which had spread to the exterior of a property and left the property heavily smoke logged.
"Crews extinguished the bin fire and used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the property of smoke."
