Police are appealing for information after burglars stole items worth £30,000 from a jewellers’ in St Ives in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The thieves smashed the glass front door of Little Jems Jewellers in Tregenna Place shortly after 3.50am and stole the contents of two window displays as well as other items of jewellery.

Police report that the offenders left the shop with at least 10 diamond rings, five of which were white gold solitaire engagement rings, 15 gold bangles and 20 gold bracelets, including three chunky men's bracelets.

Some of the stolen items are described as: a nine carat gold Art Nouveau ruby necklace; an 18 carat white gold sapphire and diamond petal cluster ring in a rub over setting; an 18 carat gold Victorian sapphire and diamond marquise-shaped ring; an 18 carat gold handmade heavy-set emerald cut topaz ring with diamond inlay shoulder detail; an 18 carat gold handmade heavy-set pear-shaped topaz ring with claw set diamond surround and diamond inlay shoulder detail; an 18 carat gold five stone sapphire channel-set half eternity ring; and an 18 carat white gold multi-wear sapphire and diamond stud round earrings with detachable centre diamond stud.

Enquiries are continuing and detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the burglary, or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time, to get in touch.

Officers are also keen to speak to anyone who has been offered any of these items of jewellery for sale.
