Thieves used a ladder to steal thousands of pounds worth of jewellery which was taken from a Penzance shop last week.

The burglary was committed at Tony Walton Jewellers in Chapel Street in the early hours of Thursday morning.

A force spokesperson the offenders used a ladder to get inside the building through a first floor window before stealing various items of high-value jewellery including rings and bracelets from a cabinet.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen the ladder being used near the building or anyone acting suspiciously in the Chapel Street and Princess Street area.

Anyone who may have information in relation to this incident is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference CR/015666/16.
